TRAVIS TADDEO IN RUNAWAY LOVE: TORONTO FASHION WEEK DAY 5
“…Travis Taddeo’s F/W 2012 collection, entitled Doomed Generation, was the epitome of edgy, badass, and freaking radness. I think I’ve called like 55 lines badass so far…and for that I apologize because when compared to Taddeo’s line, no one gets near his badassiness. The line featured a lot of leather pieces and fur trim (poor baby animals…). The colours - fiery reds, ash greys, black, and white (hint of metallic silver) - really spelled out the rawness and dooms-day idea of the end-of-the-world theme…”
“If someone asked me who my favourite Canadian designers are, Sid Neigum’s name would be somewhere in that list. At a young age (he’s only 2 years older than me) he’s done what other young designers haven’t: figure out what the hell who/what he’s designing for; also, he’s actually selling his clothes. Words like, ‘dark’, ‘unconventional’, and ‘experimental’ have been used to describe his collections. Consistently. Add to that ‘thoughtful’ too when I learned about the (less obvious) scientific undertones, like golden ratio, he implements in his designs.”
SID NEIGUM FOR LOOK OF THE WEEK: SHORTS
“Now that Spring has finally arrived, there only means one thing – it’s time to rock those unconventional spring shorts! Looking fashion-forward yet staying classy can be a tough hurdle to accomplish, especially when the weather seems to be in between the painfully cold and the intensively warm. Sometimes, it can be difficult to decide what to wear before heading out on a day of leisure and recreational fun, but with notable designers like Carlos Campos, Joe Fresh and Sid Neigum, traditional spring menswear doesn’t have to sacrifice style nor flare in order to stay relevant for this blooming season.”
CARA CHEUNG IN KENTON MAGAZINE
“Sticking to her formula of a bold silhouette with signature embellishment, Cara Cheung rocked the Toronto Fashion Week runway with a collection consisting of two elements: body conscious and Swarovski. The result was a sexy and sophisticated line that appeals to the young, modern woman.”

CHECK OUT CCP IN FACTORY DARLING: WMCFW: Chloé Comme Parris
“i brought M along with me and suffice to say we both LOVED CCP f/w 2012. their talent is undeniable. every look coming down the runway had chloé’s strong design aesthetic completed with parris’ past-par accessories. they’re young, effortless and stylish (the clothes and the sisters). it was all about chunky knits, studs, and maxis, and they stayed in touch with their use of prints from s/s by making it fall-approp (re: darker). also loved the double chain drape on the shoes, exposed by the front-split on black trousers (couldn’t get a photo!). everything was very romantic and goth, splashes of grunge and boho-chic. per-fec-tion.”
Thanks Carrie!
FILLER MAGAZINE SITS DOWN WITH RAD HOURANI
“WHAT DO YOU PREDICT TO BE THE BIGGEST TREND TO HIT THE STREETS NEXT SEASON?
Complex Geometrics: It’s the mixing and melding of contrasting and opposites. Geometric tailoring, structured silhouettes and a clean, minimalist approach to dressing versus layers of contrasting fabrics, print vs. print all balanced by soft, draped ethereal pieces that embody a shape of their own when worn. It is a coming together of extremes for FW12 — silk and leather, wool and satin. It is the light and dark contrast, the futuristic and nostalgic combined in one.”
CHLOÉ COMME PARRIS IN LOOKBOOK
“The fashion industry now has enough fashion weeks that someone could trot the globe 52 weeks a year from Miami to Berlin to cover shows ranging from the perennial blockbusters (New York, Paris, Milan) to the downright wacky and bizarre. Somewhere in the middle, with a focus that oscillates between young designers and established Canadian brands, is Toronto’s MasterCard Fashion Week. Chief among my favorite young designer lines was Chloe Comme Parris.” READ MORE.
CCP INTERVIEW w. REAL STYLE NETWORK
“The sister design duo Chloe and Parris Gordon are no strangers to Toronto Fashion Week. In their fourth season of shows, this time the girls gave us garments with a soft gothic charm. Still in their early twenties, these budding designers have made a big splash in the Toronto fashion scene for their dark and youthful edge. Real Style Network caught up with the girls backstage after their highly anticipated Fall 2012 show at World MasterCard Fashion Week to find out the secret behind their fall collection…” READ MORE
